The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT) are founded on an ancient traditional form of Maya abdominal massage and taught by dr. Rosita Arvigo.
The Arvigo® therapy is a non-invasive external massage that gently releases restrictions in abdominal and pelvic organs and tissues and supports your digestive and reproductive systems. It stimulates the flow of blood, lymph, nerves and energy and supports the body’s natural healing capacity. Therefore it enhances health and wellness throughout the life cycle for women, men and children.
As a form of a holistic therapy, it can also help in releasing deep, blocked emotions held in our bellies, thus allowing clear flow and healing on physical, emotional and energetic level.
The Arvigo® therapy is unique because in the first session I will teach you Self Care massage and give you a tool to take home. Through repetition of massage on daily basis you will literally be “hands on” on your healing journey.
I learned about this therapy some years back through a friend, and in 2014 went and had a therapy myself, first to see what it was all about.
I was immediately drawn to it and its benefits. I did my Self-care class in June of 2015 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, then my professional training the same year in October in Greenfield, New Hampshire, USA. In Feb of 2016 I attended certification training with dr. Rosita Arvigo at her home in Belize and in May the same year attended an Advanced class for Pregnancy in Racine, Wisconsin, USA.
I am a certified Arvigo® practitioner and work with both women and men. I also offer support for preconception, pregnancy and postpartum care as a trained Arvigo® therapy pregnancy practitioner.
My training in The Arvigo® therapy has also been my personal healing journey and walking this path has brought me closer to my own body and in touch with my inner strength. I want to bring these ancient teachings and the work to as many women as possible to help them find their strength and the balance within.
Don Elijio Pant, the great Maya Shaman of Belize, who was Rosita’s mentor for ten years believed that a woman’s center is her uterus. He would say “If a woman’s uterus is out of balance, so is she”. I agree.
What to expect during a session:
Comprehensive review of your health history and your present healthcare needs focusing on reproductive and digestive health
Upper and lower abdominal massage to help improve circulation to abdominal organs
Massage to your back, sacrum and hips to stimulate circulation to the organs of the abdomen
Evaluation of body posture
Instructions on Self Care massage to do at home to enhance your professional session
Recommendations of complimentary modalities to support your health and wellness that may include:
wearing of a Faja – a traditional lower abdomen supportive wrap,
Bajos – a traditional herbal pelvic steam bath of the Maya(vaginal steams),
application of Castor oil packs
I will work with you to address your specific needs and may suggest a course of treatments. Typically, 3 to 6 professional sessions are required to address most conditions. Some conditions may require further attention over a longer period of time.
